Position Description:
The Buyer/Purchasing Intern will support the Materials team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role offers hands-on experience in supplier negotiation, ERP systems, global sourcing, and strategic procurement. Interns will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supply chain challenges, manage noncritical items, and strengthen supplier relationships while contributing to effective purchasing strategies that ensure business continuity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Buyer/Purchasing Intern will support the Materials team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role offers hands-on experience in supplier negotiation, ERP systems, global sourcing, and strategic procurement. Interns will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supply chain challenges, manage noncritical items, and strengthen supplier relationships while contributing to effective purchasing strategies that ensure business continuity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in sourcing and evaluating suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Support negotiations with suppliers under the guidance of buyers to optimize pricing and contract terms.
- Use ERP systems to create, manage, and track POs, supplier data, and inventory levels.
- Analyze procurement data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and potential supply risks.
- Collaborate with the supply chain, operations, and finance teams to ensure seamless purchasing processes.
- Participate in supplier performance reviews and contribute to improvement initiatives.
- Gain exposure to managing different item categories, such as bottleneck and leverage items within the supply strategy framework.
- Contribute to team projects focused on process efficiency, sustainability, and sourcing.
- Learn and apply business communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a professional setting.
- Currently a sophomore standing or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Interest in global business, supplier relations, and continuous improvement.
- Experience with or willingness to learn ERP systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
